Domination Fight Series 7 this Friday

After repeated Covid-induced postponements, Domination Fight Series 7 is set to take place this Friday, October 30, at the Woolston Working Men's Club in Christchurch.

The first seven fights are kickboxing fights contested in a ring, after which the ropes will be replaced by a cage on the ring base for the final three bouts.

The main event sees two rising NZ MMA fighters look to stamp their place in the 74kg with a South Island IKBF title on the line:

CAGE FIGHTS:

IKBF South Island 74kg MMA Title

Alex Tzinavos (Maui Muay Thai / MyBJJ Nelson) vs Grant Toa Toa (Cage Fight Academy Wellington).

Alex and Grant have met before on the New Zealand grappling circuit, where Alex pipped Grant on the Intermediate (blue, purple belt) podium at the NZ Grappler nogi tournament in 2017, taking gold to Grant’s silver.

Since then, though, Grant has been working on his jiu-jitsu and is now also a purple belt, while Alex has been taking the toughest fights he can find under kickboxing and boxing rules, coming off an MMA win two weeks ago over Carlos Hicks at Knees of Fury 81.

This fight will be five three-minute rounds of MMA in the cage. Who will implement their game plan and take home the South Island title belt?

IKBF South Island Middleweight Caged K1 Title

Iain Blade (Elite Fight Complex) vs Wayne Knight (Knights MMA Timaru)

Both men are veterans of the fight game, looking to add a belt to the trophy cabinet in this caged K1 matchup over five two-minute rounds.

Novice MMA 71kg

James Heo (Universal Vale Tudo) vs Alex Sele (EFC / Otautahi Lost Boys)

Alex Sele is looking to stay active after fighting at XFC Dunedin on October 17, stepping in to fight Karl Webber's protege James Heo. The fight will be contested over three three-minute rounds with 7oz MMA gloves.
