A New Zealand fighter is embarking on a new branch of her life as she prepares to share her passions with other women.

Nyrene Crowley, also known as the Neutron Bomb, signed with ONE Championship earlier this year.

The Auckland-born Crowley also etched her name in the history books when she signed by becoming the first New Zealand female fighter to ink a deal with the Singapore-based promotion.

She now joins the ONE Kiwi contingent of Ev Ting, Mark Fairtex Abelardo and Alexi Serepisos.

She was overseas when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Since then, Crowley has been working on another venture and has since released her own website - www.nyrenecrowley.com - all while she wa in quarantine for two weeks.

Fight News had a chance to talk to Crowley about her new website and what is means for her.

Check out the interview below.

Where did the idea come from for the website?

Well I’ve now been learning and growing and competing for three years full time overseas and have had the most amazing opportunities to train alongside some of the best athletes, and be trained by some of the best coaches in the world right now.

I have grown so much as an athlete and as a human being, that I spent a lot of time sharing it with others and actually became really passionate about working with women.

Being back home I knew that so many people could benefit and might really be interested to see what I have to offer. So I bit the bullet and created this entire concept, and all the content while I was in quarantine for two weeks.

What is the aim of the site?

My biggest goal is to make Muay Thai Kickboxing accessible in a way that creates a safe and harmonious environment for women to learn.

I found that so many women would really love to start, but there was still this slight sense of intimidation or hesitation about walking into a Martial Arts gym on your first day, and not knowing what to expect.

The thing is, I am convinced that training in Martial Arts could add so much value to so many people’s lives as it did for mine.

There is nothing quite like the disciplined, focused, physical and mental training of Martial Arts. And I know for a fact that this type of training can really benefit the at-times demanding lives of so many people.

How does it feel to have the site up and running now?

Oh mate. After a few little nerve wracking shots of coffee and a little moment of positive self-talk I am stoked that I did it.

It really makes me so proud of myself to have created something that I really do believe in, and something that I know will help so many people.

Where are you based these days?

I am now based over the North Shore, Auckland staying with family until I get back on my feet and build a bit of a routine for myself going forward.

Since COVID hit earlier this year, how have you been?

You know, I’m not going to lie. It has been a rough year along with many many others. Personally and professionally I found myself a bit lost in moments, and I realised that I needed to be home.

My mental health was really starting to suffer so it was a very emotional return home for me. Being home is healing me in every way possible, and I am a huge believer in the workings of the universe so I truly do feel this has been the right thing for me.

Besides the website, what are your future plans?

I am not hanging the sweaty gloves up just yet. I still have so much desire to fight. With the nature of the world the way that it is, I just have to understand what my options are nationally and internationally and how we can make this happen.

I am now based at City Kickboxing and surrounded by some pretty amazing people who will add so much value to my training, so I am excited to see how it all plays out.

is there anything else you would like to add?

I would just like to mention some pretty incredible people who over the past three months really helped me when I needed help the most. Hamish Robertson, Vao and Earl Crowley, Eugene Bareman, Doug Viney, Craig Hughes, Anisha Kalam, Violet Toalima, Missy Elliot, Cat Faumuina, Michael Meredith and Claire Baudinet

Without these amazing people, my transition home would have never happened and I could never repay the absolute kindness that they all gave me. I am forever thankful.
