Dhcamad Armstrong is keen to step into the ring at Born to Fight 8 this weekend.

This will be Armstrong's first fight for 2020.

Armstrong - who was given the name Bob in Japan - will be taking on Samoa's Lapa Halangahu at the YMCA Stadium in Auckland on Saturday.

Fight News caught up with the New Zealand -based fighter ahead of this weekend's fight.

"Unfortunately, this is my first fight for 2020 but it's a big one. I am happy and grateful for the opportunity.

"Fight camp has been quite long as this event was postponed due to the virus, but am keen and ready to go into a fight war."

Bob says he is looking forward to fighting Lapa, as he is strong and has a similar style as he does.

"I actually asked Vahid if I could fight him and Vahid set it up, I asked him this because I believe Lapa is a worthy strong opponent and I want to fight the best.

"I decided to take this K1 fight, obviously, because it's for a world title but also because throughout my MMA career, which started back in 2013 as a professional in Japan, I destroyed everybody I came up against when it was standing."

As Bob progressed in his fight career, he says all of his opponents new his strength was when he was standing, so they all had one game plan and that was to take him to the ground.

"Unfortunately, when I moved back to Northland the level of grappling/jujitsu is very low, so my ground game came to a halt.

"I look forward to this fight as I don't have to worry about take downs and can do what I do best which is stand and rumble."

Bob says he feels good, happy and is look forward to facing Lapa for a world title.

"What more can I ask for to end 2020. I will be fighting alongside three of my team mates who have been in training camp with me for the passed four months, haha such a long camp, but it has been an enjoyable time and I have learnt a lot and have learnt and studied this new sport of Kickboxing."
