TMT Fight Night: To the Top was an action-packed spectacle last Saturday, December 12, with 17 fights delivering their share of knockouts and technical decisions.

The 17-fight event took place at Tihipuke Muay Thai gym on Collingwood Street in Hamilton and featured five New Zealand title fights and a full Thai rules main event.

In the main event, local Jesse Morrow-Wilson handed Tony Jaggard his only loss to date, staying calm under pressure to unload his offense. The left straight landed often for southpaw Morrow-Wilson, who kept the pressure on throughout the bout to take a unanimous decision victory.

Alex Richings of South Island Lee Gar landed a brutal right hand to win the WKBF 78.1kg New Zealand title by KO in the second round. His opponent, Jayden Kani came out aggressive but did not reckon with the power of Richings.

Freestyle MMA Morrinsville’s Stefan Harrison overwhelmed Riini Le Comte over five rounds to win the WKBF 95kg New Zealand title, the gas tank and varied arsenal of Harrison earning him a unanimous decision.

Hayellom Tesfay of Kings Academy withstood the storm of Red Dragon’s Angel Ribas, a tight defense and fast hands earning him the decision victory and the WKBF 72.3kg New Zealand title.

Zaane Walker stayed calm under pressure and demolished Arapeta Werohiko in the second round with a perfectly timed spinning elbow to the chin, winning the WKBF New Zealand 72.3kg youth title by KO in the second round.

Jack Young of Manawa Toa Muay Thai implemented his gameplan to defeat Last Stance Otara’s Journey Petero by unanimous decision, winning the WKBF 63kg under-14 New Zealand title in the process.
