Tauranga Martial Arts Academy is launching a new Karate programme for Neuro-diverse children in on February 2.
The Karate Classes and Mentoring are for children diagnosed or non diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, Dyspraxia and other forms of Neurodiversity.
Th programme is taught by Sensei Jason Edgecombe, who himself was diagnosed as Autism Spectrum, ADHD, & Dyspraxia as a child.
TMAA says the are a place where "your child's unique mind is understood, accepted and not considered a disorder".
"Where we not only teach them Karate but will mentor them and assist them to develop confidence and self-esteem in order to find their place in the world."
Student's in this programme will have the choice of joining group classes (Tuesdays 3.45PM) or having one on ones, whichever suits them.
Group classes will run Tuesdays at 3.45PM, and Jason is also available for both one on one training and family assistance at the following times:
Mon 9AM - 12PM
Wed 9.30AM - 2.30PM
Thurs 9.30AM -12PM
Fri 9.30AM - 2.30PM
"These 1 on 1 sessions can be a Karate class, they can be mentoring, family guidance, help with homework (if they are attending school), what ever it takes to support these children.
"A free 1 on 1 consultation is available for any families, so Jason can get to know your child's unique situation, and steer you in the right direction for funding for the sessions/classes."
