Organisers of a charity event involving Israel Adesanya and Mike Angove are having to postpone the event due to "unforeseen circumstances".

Mike Angove, from City Kickboxing in Auckland, was due to interview UFC champion Israel Adesanya at the Prince Edward Audatorium in Whanganui on May 1.

Organisers say it "will be rescheduled at a later date which ties in with Israel's sporting commitments".

"Israel and his management team tender their apologies to ticket holders for the inconvenience which this postponement has caused and look forward to the rescheduled event," says a statement released by organisers this week.

"Ticket holders will receive a refund through the Royal Wanganui Opera House booking system.

This charity event is in support of the new Regional Children’s Hospital, which is now being constructed in Wellington.

Adesanya needs little introduction to the Whanganui community, having commenced his career here in Whanganui and being Whanganui Sportsperson of the Year in 2020 and Halberg Sportsperson of the Year in 2019.

Mike Angove is one of his four coaches and is well known as a National combat sports analyst and commentator and is a former world champion kickboxer. He is one of the City Kick Boxing Gymnasium team in Auckland.

The interview will cover Israel's journey through the sport and what he hopes to achieve.

Both these men have in depth knowledge of the UFC fight game so it promises to be an entertaining and informative evening and a unique opportunity to see and hear Israel and Mike together.

"The Rotary Club of Whanganui  North has organised this charity event in support of the fit out of the new Regional Children’s Hospital, which is now being constructed in Wellington and is due to open early next year. There will be a brief outline of the project as part of the evening," says event organisers.

Fight News will keep everyone posted when the new date for the live interview is set.
