UFC champion Israel Adesanya is the latest Kiwi announced to fight at UFC 263.

Adesanya will defend his middleweight title against Italian Marvin Vettori in June.

Adesanya has not stepped into the octagon since suffering the first defeat of his mixed martial arts career in a recent light-heavyweight title bout against Polish champion Jan Blachowicz, reports Stuff.co.nz

Despite the defeat on March 7, Adesanya remains the undisputed king of the middleweights. He is undefeated in 20 bouts.

The pair, who will main event UFC 263, last meet in the octagon on in April 2018.

Also fighting on the night, is fellow Kiwi fighter Brad Riddell.

Riddell is expected to be taking on Drew Dober.

Last week, it was announced that UFC 263 was close to finalising the lightweight matchup for the June 12 pay-per-view event, which takes place at a location and venue to be announced.

New Zealand's Riddell (9-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) is coming into the potential fight riding a six-fight winning streak.

He was supposed to compete against Gregor Gillespie at UFC on ESPN 21 on March 20.

However, that match was cancelled after Covid-19 protocols forced Riddell out of the fight.

Dober (23-10 MMA, 9-6 UFC) most recently competed at UFC 259 in March, when he was submitted by Islam Makhachev in the third round, reports MMA Junkie.

Prior to the loss, Dober accumulated three straight TKO wins over Marco Polo Reyes, Nasrat Haqparast and Alexander Hernandez.
